SPAIN – MIRO'S ISLAND OF MALLORCA
GAUDI'S BARCELONA
Tuesday, June 1 - Tuesday, June 15, 2004
Click here to see a gallery of Spain images

The Mediterranean Sea along the Spanish coasts will function as our base with the tall ships arriving in Antoni Gaudi’s Barcelona, a festival city filled with 20th century architecture, art, cuisine, and culture. There will be plenty to be inspired by for painters with fully staffed private kitchen apartments overlooking Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia. The exciting modernist city will be fully explored from various vantage points with free-time to explore the old Gothic district in the evenings. Mallorca – our first week’s base, with it’s rural and exotic influences off the coast of Spain, is 140 miles from Barcelona. The dream island, cut off from the outside world by water, you will find the stunning scenery is special. The group will be staying in the middle of the island with our own lodge and a cook, pool, wine grapes and views of the mountains. We will even manage to jet off and make a pilgrimage to northern Spain’s Bilboa Guggenheim Art Museum.

First, the usual hearty breakfast with daily outings for a morning and afternoon session, usually arriving back at the base later in the afternoon. There will be personal time to explore Barcelona and Palma along with down time in the evenings.

WORKSHOP DEMANDS

There are no expectations in terms of the numbers of works one is expected to complete, nor the size of the work. Most of the workshop will be on flat ground & near our transportation. Most late afternoons will end back at both bases for relaxing, painting with some down time to enjoy the cultural offerings. The Mallorca residence will have a private pool.

FOOD

The groups will eat together at most meals experiencing the local cuisine. We will not be a part of a typical tour package and the cook on Mallorca will meet your dietary needs. There will be four open dinners in cities.
