There will be two painting sessions a day for the week in Venice, concentrating on the historical watercolor significance of the landscape and architecture of plazas, canals, churches and vistas of this inspiring city and the surrounding islands used by Sargent and Turner. The group will explore the distinctive neighborhoods and the art in the churches and important collections, including the Venice Biennale. There will be plenty of time to shop the narrow streets during the lunch break and evenings. The final two days will be spent visiting the world-class museums in Florence, with two painting sites to complete the collection of on-location watercolors.

There will be time to rest later in the afternoons and evening as one paints and takes in the sights of Venice and Florence as well as some of the best shopping in the world. The excellent hotels are centrally located for coming and going with painting gear and luggage. The group will be taking a boat from the airport in Venice for our arrival and a boat to the train station for the trip to Florence. Bags must be manageable and each person responsible for their own belongings and gear. All painting sites will be within walking distance or taxi.

    FOOD:
A continental breakfast is provided each morning as well as four group dinners. However, it is necessary to explore the various districts the workshop visits for a local lunch snack as well as for an evening meal.

SUPPPIES: Upon receipt of a deposit, a copy of a personal packing and supply list will be sent to each participant or one may access the website. We will walk and or water taxi to all painting sites. There is not a great physical demand in order to reach the locations, with the terrain being flat. All of the work will be on-location during the workshop, sometimes inside a public space, all most all of it outside.
